Petite Pineapple Doily

illustration

Petite Pineapple @ Priscilla Hewitt's site

I became intrigued by the idea of doing something intended for thread in worsted to get the fun of doily-making without the froo-froo-ness of a resulting doily. I was hoping to find a pattern that done with heavier yarn would end up more like a table-cloth, draping off the edges of my side table. The one I fell in love with ended up being too small for that, but I hope to try again some day, substituting TRs for DCs and adding additional chains as necessary to get a more open feel. I've read comments that peaches and cream is rough on the hands and unpleasant to work with, but I had absolutely no problems. This was a quick and fun little pattern to do and I will definitely try it again with an eye to super-sizing. And you can bet if I can figure out how to fit this pattern into a garment, I'm going for it lickity-split as I love the interaction between the pineapple points and the pie-slice shapes.
